Hi, I'm Sarah! I'm a consultant clinical psychologist based in the North East of England. I grew up locally in what was considered as a working class family. I was the first in my family to go to University and I care about encouraging and empowering women to reach their potential.
I'm passionate about challenging the stigma associated with ageing and particularly for women. I also have personal experience of being childness not by choice and the challenges that come with this.
Beyond being a clinical psychologist, I'm an earthy person and happiest when I'm out hiking a mountain or walking in a forest. I have two fur-babies which are my world! I love a bit of comedy and I'm a festival fan!
I'm passionate about mental health and well being and people having access to evidence based ethical support and treatment.
This can be a challenge particularly in the online world.
I'm a specialist in ageing and this is an area I'm also hugely passionate about. I believe ageing is a privilege and should not be viewed a burden. We live In an ageist society that often side lines people as they grow older, especially women, and I am committed to challenging these stereotypes and reshaping the narrative around later life.
Ageing is about all of us, and will come to us all if we are lucky. As we age we can face many challenges that can affect our mental health and wellbeing including cognitive changes and dementia.
By changing the way we view ageing and ensuring there is the right evidence based and accessible support for those struggling with age related mental health difficulties and or navigating dementia we’re shaping a future that values dignity, compassion, and connection for ourselves and the generations to come.
