Professional Support for Services & Agencies

At Mind Growth Psychology, I work with professionals, services and care providers who support older adults and people living with dementia.

If you’re in health, social care or voluntary sectors, you’ll know that working in this space brings complexity. Emotional fatigue, ethical dilemmas, relational dynamics, and system constraints can all impact how we show up in care relationships.

My aim is to support staff and organisations to think more psychologically, work more reflectively, and embed trauma-informed, values-based approaches in practice.

My work draws on over 20 years of experience in mental health and dementia care as a UK trained Consultant Clinical Psychologist. All training and consultancy is grounded in evidence-based psychological knowledge and ethical practice.

What We Offer

Psychologically Informed Consultancy

I work with older adult and dementia organisations and services to facilitate psychologically informed care quality improvement.

Consultancy can include:

  • Complex case consultation which may involve assessment, psychological formulation and care planning
  • Service assessment and improvement to improve psychologically and trauma informed care standards
  • Review of practices through a values-based and trauma-informed lens

Whether you're commissioning services, managing a team or developing resources, I bring over 20 years of mental health experience specialising in ageing, neuropsychology and dementia.

Training

I design and deliver bespoke training for staff teams and services including care homes, care agencies and networks working with older adults, carers, and people living with dementia.

All training is grounded in clinical evidence and best practice  and is aimed at developing a psychologically informed workforce  in older adult and dementia care.

Common topics include:

  • Understanding trauma in older adults
  • Dementia and behaviour: A psychological and relational approach
  • Using CAT-informed relational thinking in care roles
  • Tolerating distress
  • Working with grief, loss with older adults
  • Embedding psychological thinking in everyday care
  • Staff burnout and wellbeing
  • Leadership and systems training in care
  • Understanding and tackling ageism in older adult services

Reflective Practice & Supervision

I offer regular or one-off spaces for individuals and teams to reflect on the emotional impact of their work.

My approach is psychologically informed, grounded in clinical models (CAT, ACT), and sensitive to the real-world challenges of care roles and working with the complexities of older adults and dementia care.

I specialise in:

  • Working with trauma in older adults (including trauma manifesting in dementia care)
  • Relational patterns and role dynamics in care systems (drawing on Cognitive Analytic Therapy)
  • Holding space for ethical reflection and practitioner wellbeing

These sessions offer a structured, boundaried space for:

  • Exploring emotional responses and team dynamics
  • Preventing burnout and compassion fatigue
  • Thinking about behaviour and distress through a trauma-informed lens
  • Promoting a compassionate and trauma informed culture
